Used to be good. Forces location sharing
This app used to be good. I used to be able to scrub videos before selecting how much video I wanted to download. Now the scrubbing doesn’t work at all.
The worst part of this app is that it refuses to connect to a camera unless I enable location sharing with the app. There is nothing on the app screen that will say (in English) that location sharing must be enabled to make the app work, and yet it is required. This is why you’re seeing all the 1 star review, a critical bug. However, I don’t believe this was a mistake. Why on earth does the app need my location? If that doesn’t scream user data spying then I don’t know what does. I have no faith in this company’s privacy practices.
There is a new update now. I’m afraid that if I take it, it might force me to grant it more permissions. It can already access my photos.
Downloading videos
I was having trouble downloading videos to my iPhone. I contacted YI and their response time was excellent. They instructed me on things to try but to no avail I still was unable to download. They sent me a new camera under the 1 year warranty. I received it in less than a week. They also emailed me a prepaid label to return the original camera. When I received the new camera I had the same problem. Through email discussions they were able to resolve my issue. Wonderful and thoughtful. They are on top of responding to you quickly. If you are having the same trouble, turn off your cellular data. That does the trick. Also, reformat your sd card to fat 32.
